Morristown, N.J. (December 13, 2016) – One lucky SEU student is "Going to Disney." And it's not for vacation over winter break.

Alexis Bostrom, '18, history/political science, was accepted into the Disney College Program (DCP), a semester-long paid internship to "the happiest place on earth." She will spend next semester in the Sunshine State, gaining valuable real-world work experience, as well as exploring all the parks on days off.

"I am more than thrilled to be living and working at one of my favorite places in the world for eight months," said Alexis, a native of Hopatcong, N.J. "The opportunity is extraordinary, and sometimes life just works its magic to provide you with the paths to your success."

While there, Alexis will live in housing provided by the program and meet students from around the world who enrolled in the program.

Applicants to the DCP can designate either Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California as their worksite. For the spring 2017 semester, applications were accepted from August 15, 2016, forward. One major requirement for applicants – they must be registered students at an accredited college or university, and they must also have completed at least one semester (or even graduated) within the past six months. Other rules for applicants include: meeting any requirements their school may have, being at least 18 years old, and possessing unrestricted work authorization.

Since the program is geared toward college students, Disney Education Courses (collegiate, seminar, and self-paced offerings) are made available to DCP participants. However, in order to earn applicable college credits to their school, students must meet with an advisor to see if that's possible.

Alexis will be taking full advantage of these credit opportunities, receiving four for the internship requirement here at SEU, three credits for a DCP course, and eight credits from online courses at SEU.
