Morristown, N.J. (April 14, 2016) – For American Studies and Elementary Early Childhood Education double major Nicole Lang, '18, SEU was the only school she applied to because it was the only school she wanted. She cherishes the University's close-knit community, where she has easy access to professors and administration. "You ask; they help," she said.

"I chose American Studies because I wanted something that covered all subjects—something that would benefit my P-3 certification," explained Nicole.

The now American Studies minor is a very flexible and fascinating program, Nicole explains. Students take classes in art, literature, history and political science, for example, which revolve around the United States. Nicole has a focus in more history and political science, but she would like to explore classes in American literature in the future.

"The program is very interesting," Nicole praised. "It exposes you to different ways of thinking and how seemingly unlike subjects like political science and art are intertwined."

Nicole is from Tinton Falls, N.J. She went to Monmouth Regional High School where her guidance counselor suggested she apply to SEU first. Nicole was accepted during the University's early decision day.

Not only does Nicole appreciate her American Studies classes, but she also loves her Education classes.

She said, "I've already had a lot of opportunities to observe in classroom settings. It's an eye-opening experience; the observations solidified my childhood dream of becoming a teacher."

After Nicole graduates, she would like to teach preschool or kindergarten in her hometown.
