• Encyclopedia of Prescription Drugs (Gale Virtual Reference Library)
  This encyclopedia features entries on the most commonly prescribed drugs. It describes potential side effects, drug and food interactions, recommended dosages, and warnings/precautions.
• The Gale Encyclopedia of Nursing and Allied Health
  Provides more than 1,230 entries, of which about 100 are new, covering topics in body systems and functions, conditions and common diseases, contemporary health care issues and theories, techniques and practices, and devices and equipment. It covers all major health professions, including nursing and more.
• Human Diseases and Conditions (Gale Virtual Reference Library)
  Presents information on numerous diseases and conditions. Articles include a definition of the disease or condition, an explanation of how it works in the body, information on causes, symptoms and diagnosis, treatment or cure, and lifestyles.

Key Databases

• CINAHL with Full Text
  Search nearly 3,000 journals in nursing and allied health. Contains full text for approximately 600 journals, though additional full text may be available in other databases.
• Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
  Database designed for researchers, allied health professionals, nurses and medical educators with access to 330 full-text journals, 260 which are full-text and peer-reviewed, focusing on wide range of medical topics.
• Journals @ Ovid
  Full text access to peer-reviewed journals covering nursing administration, nursing education, and nursing research. Includes American Journal of Nursing. Also includes full text back issues for 50+ medical journals.

National Library of Medicine

World’s largest biomedical library, NLM produces electronic information resources on a wide range of topics. It also supports and conducts research, development, and training in biomedical informatics and health information technology. Three databases available to the public are the following

• MEDLINE
  Oldest and still active citation database with links to full text, when available. MEDLINE can be accessed through Ebsco and shares the same searching format as other databases such as CINAHL. The database is notable for the careful journal screening process and the use of, Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®), to index citations.
• PubMed
  begins with MEDLINE and builds out from there offering a broader range of coverage with far more records, including additional full text coverage. You may limit your PubMed search retrieval to MEDLINE citations only by restricting your search to the MeSH controlled vocabulary or by using the Journal Categories filter called MEDLINE.
• PubMed Central (PMC)
  Full-text archive for full-text biomedical and life sciences journal articles. It is a repository for journal literature deposited by participating publishers, as well as for author manuscripts that have been submitted in compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy and similar policies of other research funding agencies. Some PMC journals are also MEDLINE journals.

  This subset of the ProQuest Research Library database includes journals that cover nursing, allied health, medicine, and pharmacology.

  198 peer-reviewed, open access journals in biomedical literature. Free registration required.
• ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global: Health & Medicine
  Over 1 million downloadable full text dissertations and theses, covering a wide range of graduate research topics, including nursing.
