The Saint Elizabeth University Teacher Education Program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), as recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and by the New Jersey State Department of Education.

Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Education offers accredited programs for Initial Licensure in the following areas:

  • B.A. in Education
  • Elementary/Early Childhood Education
  • Elementary Elementary/Middle School Math or Science Education
  • Minor in Secondary Education

Graduate Programs

The Department of Education offers accredited Graduate Programs for certification in the following areas:

  • A.C.T. I Accelerated Certification for Teaching (K-6 or K-12)
  • A.C.T. II Accelerated Certification for Teacher of Students with Disabilities (K-12 Advanced)
  • M.A. in Education with Initial Certification (K-6 or K-12)
  • M.A. in Education with an Emphasis for Teacher of Students with Disabilities with Initial Certification (K-6 or K-12)M.A. in Educational Leadership (Supervisor and Principal Certification) (Advanced)
  • Supervisor Certification (Advanced)

All degree and certification programs satisfy the appropriate requirements for initial and advance certification as established by the New Jersey State Department of Education.

To be certified to teach, students must fulfill all degree requirements, achieve a passing score on the appropriate Praxis Core Academic Skills for Education and prior to ED 469 Clinical Practice II, all students must pass the Praxis II requirement and have a cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher. Students must achieve a passing score on the appropriate Praxis examinations. www.ets.org.
