Why Choose SEU's MS/DI Program?

The combined M.S. in Nutrition/Dietetic Internship Program (MS/DI) is completed in 38 credits. Accepted students complete 20 credits of online M.S. in Nutrition coursework and 18 credits of Dietetic Internship (DI) program-specific coursework, which includes a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised practice.

Students who successfully complete the program receive a M.S. in Nutrition and a verification statement of program completion. They are then eligible to take the National Registration Examination for Registered Dietitians/Nutritionists (RD/RDN).

The program offers a choice of concentrations with separate match codes. Prospective students can apply during the Spring Match to one or both concentrations: Entrepreneurial Nutrition Practice concentration (code 418) or Community and Public Health Nutrition concentration (code 134).

DI Policy for Direct Admit into Dietetic Internship Pending Vacancies

The SEU Dietetic Internship reserves the right to fill any post-match openings with applicants who already hold a master’s degree (in any area) either completed in the United States, or if completed outside of the U.S., evaluated by a recognized third-party evaluation vendor as being the equivalent of a U.S. masters degree. All applicants must also hold a DPD Verification Statement. Applicants may be conditionally accepted prior to completion of DPD Verification Statement and master’s degree, but both must be completed by the start of the Dietetic Internship. Recency of education will be assessed by faculty, which may result in additional required coursework to be completed by the applicant before or during supervised practice. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the Dietetic Internship Director for more information and will be required to submit: 

Qualified applicants will be required to provide apply through DICAS and D&D Digital by February 15th and submit the same required documents as all other students (see “Application Instructions”).

The Combined MS in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship (MS/DI) at Saint Elizabeth University is in the process of converting to a Graduate Program (GP) in Nutrition and Dietetics. This ACEND graduate-level program will follow a competency-based curriculum designed to prepare nutrition and dietetics practitioners for the future. For all students, including career changers, the GP will not require a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) verification for admission.

GP Applications for the Fall 2025 class will be accepted beginning in January 2025.

IMPORTANT: The last application period for the Combined MS in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship at SEU is Fall 2024.

CDR Credentialing

Effective January 1, 2024, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).

In addition, CDR requires that individuals complete coursework and supervised practice in program(s) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

*As of January 13, 2021, graduates must also obtain licensure to practice in New Jersey. Graduates who successfully complete the ACEND-accredited dietetic internship through the Combined Master's in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship program at Saint Elizabeth University are eligible to apply to take the CDR credentialing exam to become an RDN.

Accreditation Status

The Dietetic Internship Program of Saint Elizabeth University is granted accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), the accrediting agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics through December 31, 2025. ACEND is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
