Coronavirus COVID-19 Protocols

Saint Elizabeth University, like other colleges and universities worldwide, continues to engage in efforts to prepare for and mitigate the ever-changing impacts of COVID-19. Our top priority is to support the health and well-being of all students and our community as a whole.

SEU currently is a mask-friendly environment. Mask-friendly means students, faculty, staff and visitors may choose a masking option based on their own personal health and comfort level. The University will continue to monitor conditions and amend any protocols as deemed necessary.

SEU will continue to follow both the CDC and New Jersey COVID-19 guidelines which strongly recommend and encourage vaccination and booster shots. To this end, the COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots are no longer mandatory for students and employees.

In the event a student or employee is exposed or tests positive for COVID-19, SEU is following CDC guidelines on isolation protocols found on the CDC website. The site also includes an interactive tool to help determine how long you need to isolate or take other steps to prevent spreading COVID-19.

Please refer to the CDC website and the New Jersey COVID-19 Information Hub for the latest information regarding COVID.

If an Employee or Student Tests Positive for COVID-19

Employees who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of whether they have symptoms, should:

  • Isolate for 5 days, and may return to campus wearing a mask for 5 additional days if asymptomatic or significantly improving;
  • Inform their personal physician of their positive test results;
  • Follow up with their physician/urgent care and obtain return to work clearance if they are not significantly improved by day 5; and
  • Inform their campus Occupational Health office of positive test results if they are working on campus and they have close contacts at work.
  • Employees who are able to work remotely and feel well enough to do so, may, with supervisor approval, work from home while in isolation. Employees who are unable to work remotely must charge sick time or paid time off.
