Program Overview

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is designed to prepare professionals for leadership roles in the assessment and promotion of public health. The 42-credit program has a multi-disciplinary curriculum which provides graduates with a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to ensuring the health of our communities.

The mission of the Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH) program is aligned with the mission of Saint Elizabeth University to promote leadership in service and social responsibility to others and to support the well-being of all individuals and communities; particularly those who have been traditionally underserved in our society. The mission of the MPH program is to train professionals to be leaders in promoting the holistic health and wellness of individuals and groups; especially those at highest risk living in communities with greatest need for health and wellness support. Through coursework and community-based field experience, graduates of this program will be prepared advocates at the policy and the direct service levels for reducing systemic health disparities and promoting cultures of health for all groups in our society. Graduates will also be prepared to enhance health in human populations through organized community efforts.

Graduates of the MPH program will be prepared to work in a wide range of settings including non-profit organizations, government agencies, hospitals/health systems, insurance companies, corporate settings, public policy organizations, research, and higher education. Examples of potential employment positions include health program coordinator, community health educator, health policy analyst, and research analyst.

How You Will Benefit

Upon completion of the MPH, graduates will have acquired advanced academic training and competency in:

  • Community health assessment
  • Providing direct service to communities and groups
  • Cultural competence and ethical and professional behavior
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs and interventions
  • Collaboration with community partners such as health systems in the promotion of community health
  • Social, behavioral, and environmental factors that affect the health of individuals and populations

Admission Requirements

For International Students:

  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions. International transcripts must be evaluated by NACES (i.e. WES) on a course by course basis.
  • TOEFL/IELTS (if necessary)
