SEU Orientation

Orientation 2022: Launch Your Future at SEU

Soar Toward your Dreams!

Wednesday, August 17th-Friday, August 19th

Join the members of the SEU 2022 Orientation Team as you blast off on a three-day adventure that will prepare you for your time at Saint Elizabeth University. During your three days you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow new students, learn more about the support services offered at the University, get a taste for what Student Life at the University looks like and most of all to have fun. We cannot wait to welcome you aboard on August 17th!

What to Expect

  • Students are expected to attend all Orientation activities before reporting to classes the week of August 22nd
  • Please note a more detailed schedule will be distributed on Orientation Day at Check-In

Wednesday, August 17th

Orientation Day 1

Check-In | 8am-11:30am

Students and their families will follow the signs leading them to the back of Saint Joseph’s Hall where they will check-in for Orientation.

  • Out of State Students are encouraged to arrive at 8am
  • Resident Students can arrive between 8:30am-10:30am
  • Commuter Students should arrive between 10:30am-11:30am

Space Picnic | 11:30am-12:30pm

To give the families of new students an opportunity to see what dining services have to offer, there will be a picnic lunch outside of Saint Joseph’s Hall.


Welcome | 12:45pm

To officially welcome students and their families to the SEU Community there will be a brief join session in Dolan Performance Hall where you will meet and be greeted by the college administration as well as the members of the Student Orientation Team.


Major Speed Greeting/ Parent Orientation | 1:15pm-2:45pm

After this joint welcome students will attend an interactive presentation that will give them the opportunity to learn more about the majors offered at the University. Parents and families will attend an interactive session where they will be able to ask questions of specific offices as well hear personal accounts from SEU staff members about the process of letting go.


Family Blessing and Class Picture | 3pm-3:30pm

One of the long standing traditions at the University is that before families depart on Orientation Day, they gather with members of the SEU Staff and Faculty to bestow a blessing on the new students and wish them luck on their journey. Following the blessing parents and families are welcome to snap a picture as we gather the class together for a photo before departing.


Various Activities | 3:45pm-11pm

As we move into the late afternoon/evening students will take part in a number of different activities that will further prepare them to begin classes the following week, to make friends and to get engaged on campus.


Attire for this day is comfortable-students will receive a t-shirt for the class photo.

Thursday, August 18th

Orientation Day 2

After having an early breakfast in the dining hall this day will focus on Mission and Service with the students taking part in multiple service opportunities in partnership with Spring Street Community Development Corporation and Table of Hope. There will be four components to the immersion experience, including, staffing the Mobile Foodbank and assembling backpacks with school gear for underprivileged children. They will also come to understand what the school's mission is and why social justice is so important.

Following the service project the students will have another afternoon/evening of activities focused on engagement.


Attire for this day is comfortable-students should wear the t-shirts they received on the previous day.

Friday, August 19th

Orientation Day 3

This day will focus on personal growth and development. After having breakfast the students will learn more about the services offered through the Student Success Center and Student Life. This will be followed by a session where the students will learn about their personality type and how each type forms the individual as well as the community that is SEU. As is tradition at the University the students will be given the opportunity after lunch to write a letter to themselves which they will open at their 100 Nights celebration during their senior year. Finally, the day will conclude with a trip on the Spirit of NJ where the students will get a chance to enjoy dinner as they float around Manhattan.


Attire for this day is comfortable-students are encouraged to dress up for the boat if they so choose.

Saturday, August 20th

Orientation Day 4

Resident students are expected and commuters are encouraged to participate in this extended day of orientation which will include a game of water tag sponsored by Athletics and a highlight reel of the week.


Attire for this day is comfortable.

Additional Information

Students will also be asked to to complete an online Orientation Program prior to the start of classes. More information about this program will be sent out in email.
