Counseling Services Events Collage

Throughout the academic year, Counseling Services organizes a number of events for the campus community. From our annual Mental Health Fair to weekly wellness walks, all students are invited to participate! Our department schedules events regularly to support our mission of improving the mental health and well–being of our students.

Counseling Services' Campus Events

Clothesline Project - Counseling Services/Morris County Sexual Assault Center

In partnership with the Morris County Sexual Assault Center, SEU participates in the nationwide Clothesline Project that focuses on bringing awareness to domestic violence. Once a year, the University community is welcomed to create a t-shirt in honor of those who have experienced abuse or assault. The mission of this project is to educate students and show them that help is available.

Mental Health Fair

The University’s Mental Health Fair is an annual event that focuses on teaching students and faculty various activities to enhance their well-being. Graduate students from psychology, social work and nutrition hosted activities students could experience including chair yoga, art therapy, learning about the food and mood connection. Other mindful activities include creating origami, making a self-care tool kit and a meditation jar.

Wellness Walks

Nature is good for mental well-being. Green spaces reduce feelings of stress and increase happiness. Each week, the Counseling Services explored different parts of campus, had a chance to try mindful walking and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the various seasons.

Horticulture Therapy

Through this event, students were able to experience the benefits of gardening for health and well-being by creating an aromatherapy pouch or a mini flower bouquet.

Therapy Dog Visits

Through regular therapy dog visits on campus, students experienced various physical and emotional benefits, and left with a lifted mood and a smile.

Drum Circle

Did you know that participating in a drum circle can increase a person's physical and mental well-being? This past academic year, the SEU community gathered for an exhilarating drum circle experience. This powerful event focused on encouraging unity and community bonding.

Creative Arts Exploration

In collaboration with the non-profit Arts by the People in Morristown, N.J., the Creative Arts Exploration event has allowed our students to discover a new passion within the arts.
