A Message for International Holocaust Remembrance Day
January 27, 2026
Dear SEU Community,
As we observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, 2026, we come
together to honor the memory of the six million Jews and millions of others who lost
their lives during one of history’s darkest chapters. This day serves as a solemn
reminder of the devastating consequences of hatred, intolerance, and indifference.
Saint Elizabeth University is committed to fostering an inclusive community that values
diversity, promotes understanding, and champions social justice. This commitment is
rooted in our core values, which call us to stand against hatred and intolerance in
all forms. As we remember the victims of the Holocaust, we are reminded that understanding
the horrors of the past is essential to shaping a more empathetic and humane future.
Engaging with history is not only an act of remembrance, but a responsibility to educate
ourselves and future generations about the dangers of prejudice and dehumanization.
In a world that continues to experience division and suffering, the lessons of the
Holocaust urge us to lead with compassion, kindness, and moral courage in our daily
interactions with one another.
Together, we can cultivate a community grounded in empathy and respect, one where
every individual is valued and every voice is heard. As a Catholic university dedicated
to service and social responsibility, we honor the past by actively working toward
a future where dignity, understanding, and peace prevail.
In remembrance and solidarity,
Gary B. Crosby, Ph.D.
President
