Spotlight on Education Department Adjunct Dr. Maureen Kroog

Dr. Maureen Kroog is an experienced educator and leader with over 20 years of service in the field of education. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State University and went on to earn multiple graduate degrees: a Master of Arts in Reading Specialist from MSU, a Master of Science in Special Education from William Paterson University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from MSU. She completed her Doctorate in Education from Caldwell University.
Dr. Kroog has held various roles throughout her career, including teacher, literacy coach, and supervisor in Passaic Public Schools, where she worked for 10 years. She then transitioned to Harrison Public Schools, initially serving as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and currently as the Superintendent of Schools. Her leadership has been recognized with the prestigious Hudson County Superintendent of the Year award in 2025.
In addition to her administrative role, Dr. Kroog is an adjunct professor at St. Elizabeth University, where she has been teaching Special Education since September 2022. She is deeply committed to advancing educational opportunities for all students and fostering professional development among educators.
