Seven Months to Success: How SEU Transformed Their Campus Operations

March 24, 2026

St. Elizabeth University (SEU) recently set a goal that many in the industry thought impossible: replacing a decades-old Student Information System (SIS) and migrating fully to the cloud in just seven months. Today, we are proud to share that through a close partnership with Thesis and 3D Technologies, they have achieved exactly that.

Faced with a lean IT team of just 10 people and significant staffing gaps in key leadership roles, SEU didn’t just aim to "swap" systems—they aimed to modernize their entire operational culture. By moving from the legacy PowerCampus system to Thesis Elements, SEU transitioned from a culture of complex manual customizations to a streamlined, "configuration-first" cloud environment.

"We wanted to go all-in on the cloud and adopt something modern," says Jeff Gutkin, Chief Information and Innovation Officer at SEU. "Even with a small team, we knew we needed to focus on one system, not maintaining two. Going live fast meant we could turn our full attention toward building the future."

The journey wasn't without its "moments of mayhem," but by early September 2025, the system was live. Now, with stabilized integrations in Moodle and Slate, SEU is operating with newfound internal capabilities in APIs and automation, positioning the institution for long-term growth.
