We understand how exciting, though difficult, it might be for you to let your child experience independent living for the first time. They will make many decisions in their years at SEU, and we hope they make the best ones possible, though they may struggle from time to time.

If you think your child is struggling emotionally, with making decisions, managing stress, with relationships or family circumstances, please feel free to inform us of your concerns at (973) 290-4175. The more information we have, the more assistance we can provide your child.

If your child is 18 years of age or older, they are legally considered an adult and protected by confidentiality. Counselors may not acknowledge that they seek these services without their permission.

Counselors will not force students to seek psychological assistance unless they are in danger of harming themselves/another/property, or are mandated for a serious violation of SEU policy. In these circumstances, Counseling Services initiates assisting the student.
