Course Reserves Request

Faculty and staff are encouraged to place assigned or recommended reading or study materials on Reserve at the library's Circulation Desk. These materials may be textbooks, books or book chapters, articles, kits, or DVDs. You can do this with library-owned materials or a personal copy.

Loan Periods

Faculty may choose one of two options for course reserve loan periods: two hours, or overnight. Two hours is standard for course reserves, but the overnight loan option is available for flexibility.

Two hour loans must remain within the library building. Students will be able to take the book to their preferred study area within the library, but they will not be allowed to leave the library with the reserve book. If no one is waiting for the item at the end of the two hour loan period, the student may renew it for another two hours. Overnight loans will be checked out to the student for 24 hours, and are allowed to leave the library. 

Personal Copies

Please be aware that faculty are responsible for informing the library whether they would like their reserves extended another academic year or not. If not, they must pick up personal copies of reserve materials at the end of the academic year. Items that are not picked up are removed from reserves and put into storage, where they will remain for one year from the end of that academic year. If items have not been picked up by this point, Mahoney Library reserves the right to use or dispose of them in the manner that is most beneficial to the library and the students of Saint Elizabeth University.
