1. Student submits application to SEU
   • If transferring: Submit transfer form to current school for SEVIS record transfer
2. Student submits High School or College transcript
   • Transcripts must be accompanied by a COURSE by COURSE evaluation by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Commonly used members are World Education Services (WES) or International Education Research Foundation (IERF). For more information about transcript translation, please visit naces.org, wes.org or www.ierf.org.
3. Student submits required I-20 documents to Admissions Department
4. Institution creates "Certificate of Eligibility" (I-20) and provides to student
5. Student pays SEVIS I-901 fee
   • Pay at https://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901
6. Student then applies for F1 visa in one of the following ways:
   • Outside of the U.S.: The local U.S. consulate or embassy
     • See the DOS website for more information
   • In the U.S. on another visa or in another nonimmigrant status: apply for a change of status to F-1 or M-1 through the USCIS. Some visas, such as H4s, allow students to study while waiting for change of status, most others do not. Be sure to talk to your international advisor at the school before enrolling.
     • File I-539 at uscis.gov. (If the student is a citizen of a visa exempt country – Canada, Bermuda, etc. – contact the U.S. POE directly)

The same steps apply to students who are already in the country or are transferring from other schools:

1. Send a copy of F-1 visa to Designated School Official (DSO)
2. Be sure to complete all of the required Enrollment Steps.
3. Keep DSO informed of travel plans or changes
4. Be sure to keep all documents in your carry-on bag
5. Check in with DSO on campus upon arrival
   • Bring passport with F-1 paperwork, I-94 information, health records

• FAFSA Waiver must be submitted
• Immunization Health Forms must be completed and submitted prior to campus arrival
• Housing Deposit must be made prior to arrival if student intends to live on campus
• Flight and arrival information must be submitted in advance of travel as well as any updates
• Class registration and health insurance enrollment take place after submitting enrollment deposit
• Share transportation plans from the airport with SEU prior to arrival

• Students transferring to Saint Elizabeth University from their current US institution must complete the Request for F-1 Transfer and SEVIS Release form and submit a copy of all I-20s received from current and previous schools.
