Morristown, N.J. – December 14, 2022 Nine Saint Elizabeth University Honors Program Students recently presented original research projects at the annual Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Conference in Philadelphia. SEU students proudly made up a third of the student presenters at the poster board sessions which featured student presentations from 20 colleges and universities in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

SEU students presented on a wide range of topics including how to improve the student-learning experience in higher education; community policing strategies; American slavery; politics; psychological syndromes; and women in history, STEM, and business. SEU Honors Program Director Nicole Yanoso, Ph.D., accompanied the students to Philadelphia and helped them prepare for their presentations.

“Our honors students were poised, professional, and polished,” stated Dr. Yanoso.  “The MSCHE organizers, as well as many of my colleagues from other schools, approached me during the student presentations to praise the work that our SEU students had accomplished.”

President Gary B. Crosby, Ph.D., as well as Business Professors Regina Riccioni, Ed.D. and Wendy Hahn, MBA. alongside Director of Institutional Research and Academic Assessment Michele Yurecko, Ph.D., also attended the conference. “It was an honor to attend the conference to see our wonderful students showcase their work as leaders of their community.” Crosby noted.

“The conference was a great opportunity for us to share our work with interested parties, to build relationships with other schools and organizations, and to develop our presentation skills,” said Frank DeRogatis, ‘24, who presented on community policing.

“It was exciting knowing that my peers and I were representing our University and this prestigious event,” added Joshua Gonzalez, ‘22 and current Instructional Technology Specialist at SEU. Everyone was invigorated by networking, discussing important ideas and making new friendships.”

Yanoso paid a special thanks to Dr. Jeff Gutkin, SEU chief information and innovation officer, who helped the students create their eye-catching posters. “In addition, a huge thank you to the Dean of Student Affairs David Hill and SEU’s Educational Opportunity Fund for the help and support. Finally, thank you to President Crosby for encouraging and celebrating the Honors Students,” she said.
