ACT II

Who is this program for?
Certified teachers who would like to obtain a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSWD) endorsement

Note that students who have received their initial teaching certification outside of SEU have two options: the ACT II or the M.A. Special Education program.

M.A. in Education with Teachers of Students with Disabilities (TSWD) Endorsement

Who is this program for?
For SEU students who have successfully completed the ACT I teaching certification program and are seeking an M.A. in Education and the TSWD endorsement.

Note that students who have received their initial teaching certification outside of SEU have two options: the ACT II or the M.A. Special Education program.

How many credits is the program?
47 credits (Note that 26 credits from the ACT I program are transferred into this degree.)

Integrated Sciences for Middle and Elementary Teachers

Who is this program for?
Elementary teachers who wish to earn certification for NJ Middle School Science (Grades 5-8) and enhance their employability.

How many credits is the program?
16 credits/Hybrid Model *

What will I obtain upon completion?
Middle School Endorsement in Science upon successful completion of the course requirements and passing the Middle School Science Praxis II (#0439).

*Applicants applying for the Middle School Science Certification who have not taken a course that includes adolescent development and behavior will be required to take PSY606 Early Childhood, Childhood, and Adolescent Development and Behavior.

ESL Certification

Who is this program for?
Teachers who currently hold a standard teaching certificate.

How many credits is the program?
16 credits/Online

What will I obtain upon completion?
Certification as an ESL teacher

*Candidates must have a passing score on the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and the Written Proficiency (WPT). The OPI is a 20 to 30-minute, one-on-one interview. The WPT is an on-demand test that measures your writing comprehension in a particular language. Online Teaching in the 21st Century

Who is this program for?
To prepare current and novice teachers to utilize and apply recent learning technologies to enhance instruction in face-to-face settings and online.
