Internship Outcomes

The Academic Internship program equips students with marketable job skills that augment their classroom knowledge.  The internship experience exposes students to the benefits of networking, teaches administrative and management skills, and helps students determine their career pathway.  Our office supports students throughout the internship experience, offering critical reflection meetings, ongoing resume development, and career planning.  Our strategy embraces the NACE Career Readiness Competencies and aligns with industry trends and employer demands.

Course Requirements

An academic internship is a credit-bearing course that is directly connected to a student’s major, therefore, the student must treat the internship as a class.  Students are assigned a faculty instructor who is responsible for course facilitation.  The faculty instructor reserves the right to assign coursework in conjunction with the internship.  Students must communicate regularly with the faculty instructor to ensure all required coursework is completed during the allotted timeframe.  Failing to complete required coursework will negatively impact the student’s grade.  Additionally, students must confirm the number of internship credits required for their major.
