To commemorate Black History Month in February, this exhibit delves into the intricate tapestry of race relations spanning more than three centuries among Black and white inhabitants in Morris County and throughout greater New Jersey.

Guest speaker Dr. Lillie Johnson Edwards, Professor Emerita of History and African American Studies at Drew University

The Ties that Bind Exhibit opening on January 30, 2024, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm will feature a presentation from guest speaker Dr. Lillie Johnson Edwards, Professor Emerita of History and African American Studies at Drew University.

Dr. Edwards was the founding Director of Pan-African Studies and has received awards for excellent and distinguished teaching. Among the honors conferred upon Dr. Edwards is her appointment by Governor Murphy as Chair of the Amistad Commission, which will support New Jersey educators as they infuse African American history and culture into the K-12 curriculum.

Dr. Edwards will present "The Ties That Bind: A Journey of Hope and Social Justice".
