CSDCAS Application

The Saint Elizabeth University Speech-Language Pathology Program accepts applications to the Master of Science program through the Communication Science and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS).

Pending CAA approval, applications will be accepted beginning in August 2024 and the program will launch in Fall 2025.

• Applicants to the MS SLP Program should apply online using the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS). To learn more about the CSDCAS application process and to create your CSDCAS account, please visit the CSDCAS portal.
• Admission to the MS SLP Program is only available on a full-time basis. Earned baccalaureate degree and all prerequisite courses must all be completed by July 30th of the enrollment year. See below for prerequisite coursework required.
• Applicants must have verified CSDCAS application before the January 15th admissions deadline.
• Applicants are responsible for submitting official transcripts to CSDCAS from all universities attended and confirming that all requested materials have been successfully submitted and received with CSDCAS. Applications will not be reviewed until all materials are submitted.
• The MS SLP Program assumes the primary responsibility for the admission of its graduate students. The faculty review applications, conduct interviews, and offer admission to its selected applicants beginning in February for the start of the MS SLP Program in August.

The required materials include:

• Transcripts from all undergraduate coursework
• Provide 3 academic and/or professional references who can assess your qualifications for successful completion of a graduate program

Baccalaureate Degree

Applicants are required to successfully complete a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university prior to the start of the MS SLP Program. It is recommended that applicants hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (based on a 4.00 scale). Students with less than a 3.0 GPA are encouraged to consult with an admissions counselor or contact the SLP Program Director prior to applying to the program.

Interview

Applicants considered for acceptance in the program will be asked to participate in an interview with the Speech-Language Pathology faculty and provide a writing sample.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

Saint Elizabeth University does not require GRE scores for admission into the MS SLP Program.

Prerequisites

The following courses (or their equivalent are required by the Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (CFCC) certification guidelines. Please refer to ASHA.org for detailed description of prerequisite coursework at https://www.asha.org/certification/course-content-areas-for-slp-standards/

All courses must be completed at the undergraduate or graduate level at an accredited institution and must appear on your undergraduate or graduate transcripts. Classes taken at the high school level are not eligible to meet this requirement, except for advanced placement (AP) courses that appear for credit on your college/university transcript.

Internationally-educated applicants: Classes evaluated by your credential evaluation agency as the equivalent of U.S. high school will not be accepted. All basic science classes must appear on your undergraduate or graduate academic transcript(s) and credential evaluation reports.

General ASHA Certification Requirements (12 credits)

• Biological Science (3 credits)
• Physical Science: Must include either Chemistry or Physics (3 credits)
• Social/Behavioral Science: (3 credits) anthropology, ethnic and cultural studies, gender studies, political science, psychology, criminology, cognitive science
• Statistics (3 credits)

Pre-Requisites in Communication Sciences and Disorders (18 credits)

• Speech and Language Development (3 credits)
• Anatomy for Speech Language Pathology (3 credits)
• Speech and Hearing Science (3 credits)
• Introduction to Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation (3 credits)
• Phonetics (3 credits) 

All prerequisite courses must have B or better to meet Saint Elizabeth University admissions requirements.

The University highly encourages, but does not require, additional coursework in the following areas:

• Neurological Bases of Communication and Behavior/Neurology in Human Communication
• Clinical Writing and Observation
• Assessment and Clinical Management in Speech Language Hearing

Students must complete either a bachelor’s in communication disorders or post-bachelor’s prerequisite coursework prior to admission into the program. Up to 6 credits of prerequisite coursework can be taken upon acceptance into the program concurrently with the graduate courses during the student’s first year. Students accepted for the 2025-2026 academic year can enroll in prerequisite courses starting in Spring semester (January 2025).

Students who need to complete prerequisite coursework can apply to the Saint Elizabeth University Speech-Language-Hearing Prerequisite (SLHP) program. The SLHP Program consists of 21 credits of undergraduate, upper-level speech-language pathology and audiology coursework which can be completed in as few as three semesters.

Transfer of Credits

Students may transfer up to six graduate credits that were taken at other accredited institutions prior to matriculation to be applied toward the MS SLP degree. The credits must have been taken within seven years of admission and a grade of B or better must have been earned. The official transcript for transfer of credit must be on file prior to acceptance of credits for transfer. All transfer of credits must be approved by the Program Director of the MS SLP program.

International Transcripts

Students who earned a degree outside of the United States, should provide the office of admissions with a course-by-course credential review from a NACES recognized agency which evidences all post-secondary studies completed. An official evaluation may be sent from the agency directly to CSDCAS.

English Language Proficiency

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for success in a master’s level program at Saint Elizabeth University. All non-native English speakers are required to submit official results from TOEFL iBT or IELTS examination prior to admission.
